The ambient temperature used is generally higher than the melting temperature of the furnace. The high-temperature atmosphere of the steel rolling heating furnace is weakly reducing, and the slag has strong corrosiveness to refractory materials.

Therefore, slag resistant castables should also meet the following requirements:

1. Good high-temperature mechanical properties, with excellent high-temperature wear resistance and resistance to slag erosion;

2. Good resistance to slag chemical erosion and permeability;

3. High filling density and volume stability, low porosity, dense and uniform structure;

Considering both construction and usage requirements, slag resistant castables must also meet the following conditions:

Good construction performance, capable of rapid construction; Good baking performance, can be quickly baked without bursting; Strong non stick and easy to disassemble and repair.
